Prince Albert     Western Cape    South Africa

Amy’s Place in Prince Albert has new owners. Steve, Pandora and Diana warmly welcome all past guests who may remember the wonderful Karoo hospitality in which Amy’s is firmly rooted and which we are continuing. We have been awarded a 4 Star Grading in the Self Catering category by the TGCSA and

AA Superior by AA Travel.

First time visitors to Amy’s will find a comfortable and spaciously designed haven which caters for up to 6 guests. In keeping with the Victorian feel of Prince Albert the rooms have high ceilings, are light and airy, with sash-windows and are furnished with all you may need for a restful stay in our delightful oasis in the Karoo.

Attractions & Activities

Prince Albert is a unique Karoo village, nestling at the foot of the Swartberg range with wide plains stretching to the north-east.

Tourism and farming drive the village economy. There is a supermarket, several butchers and Gay's dairy. Restaurants serve Karoo cuisine at reasonable prices and there are several coffee shops for light lunches and teas. There is a wide range of things to do: strolling round our galleries, museum and shops, guided walks, star-gazing,  story-telling, or simply lazing the days away.

Village festivals include: the Town and Olive Festival in May and the Agricultural Show in October.  Concerts, soirées and bazaars take place from time to time.

There are scenic drives across the mountains - the entrance to the Swartberg Pass is just a few kilometres away. A drive to Oudtshoorn takes just over an hour and a quiet road takes one to the Karoo National Park in 1½ hours.
